Markets close the week flat $SHLD:xnas

- Markets ended the week with a flat session as traders were hesitant to hold trades heading into the weekend. Although the last session of the week was flat the week overall was quite strong with the S&P500 clocking its best close since June 2008
- Energy stocks led the gains last week while the financials slumped
- US Consumer Sentiment rose to 75.3, its best result in almost a year
- Department store giant Sears soared again on Friday gaining over 10% after it moved to increase liquidity via asset sales and spinning off assets
- Clothing giant GAP closed down 4.04% after 4Q net income fell 40% as higher costs and heavy discounting hurt margins
- Leading the moves on the Dow was BAC and HPQ down 1.75% & 1.52%
- DOW –0.01%, S&P500 0.17% and NASDAQ 0.23%
- EUR topped out at 1.3485 against the USD whilst the USDJPY rallied
- Gold was weaker this morning and Crude rallied to a 10 month high
