Market ends the week on a positive note $CLc1

- Markets end the week on a positive note as investors take an extended weekend break due to the US President’s Day public holiday
- Markets were encouraged by further good news in regards to Greek debt negotiations with German officials abandoning plans to potentially withhold some of the bailout funds until austerity measures are met
- In economic news US Consumer Prices rose 0.2% for January. Also the Chinese government relaxed the required reserve ratio for banks in an effort to avoid a potential hard landing and encourage lending
- HJ Heinz Co the marker of ketchup and other condiments rose 4.55% after it reported on Friday with earnings beating market estimates
- Campbells Soup Co rallied 2.62% after it too beat earnings estimates
- Leading the gains on the Dow was INTC and DD up 2.03% and 1.88%
- DOW 0.35%, S&P500 0.23% and NASDAQ –0.27%
- USD was weaker against the EUR on Greek optimism, AUD above 1.075
- Gold was off on Greek debt progress and oil rallied to a 9 month high
