Wall Street lower on Cyprus Bailout Plan $XAUUSD

- The Cypriot deposit tax debate will be occurring today. Yesterday it was announced that the bank levy of deposits up to 100,000 Euros would be 6.75% and 9.9% for deposits over 100,000 Euros.
- After opening lower, U.S equities steadily climbed in the afternoon. Nine of ten groups in the S&P 500 fell as financial shares led the broader index lower.
- AAPL was a strong performer closing up $12.06 to finish at $455.72 after rumours that they will increase their dividend by 56%. Hewlett Packard was also amongst the better performers closing at $22.83 which was a gain of 2.93%
- DOW -0.43%, S&P500 -0.55% and NASDAQ -0.35%
- The Volatility Index (VIX) rose sharply 18.23% to close at 13.36
- The EUR/USD fell to its lowest level this year trading as low as 1.2822 in the past 48 hours on the Cyprus bailout concerns.
- Crude started off in the negative territory but recovered to end the day 0.3% higher to finish at $93.45 while gold broke through the $1600 per ounce level
