US equities rise on renewed European debt support $GE:xnys

  • US stocks rose sending the S&P500 to its highest level in three weeks
  • Raw material producers, health care and telephone companies led the gains in seven of the ten main industries in the S&P500
  • General Electric, Pfizer, Chevron and 3M all rose at least 1.5% to push the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 52.3 points
  • The yield on 10 year US treasury Notes climbed four basis points to 2.08% near its highest level since October
  • DOW 0.43%, S&P500 0.11% and NASDAQ –0.23%
  • In Australia the RBA yesterday cut the cash rate by 25 basis to 4.25%
  • The Euro erased losses on hopes European leaders are planning stronger efforts to fight the debt crisis. European bond and equity markets closed lower as the announcement came after the market close
  • Gold remained steady towards USD $1728.50 per ounce whilst crude oil remains unchanged at USD $101 per barrel
